I hear it all the time: “You can’t beat $2-$4 Limit Hold’em!”
This commonly-held belief is propagated by two very reasonable-sounding arguments…
First, that the $3 rake, $1 jackpot drop, and customary $1 dealer toke are so large with respect to the average pot size that it is theoretically impossible to beat the game.
Second, that the players are so bad at lower stakes that “schooling” of the fish (more on this later) turns poker into a game of chance that no amount of skill can overcome.
Well, I have good news for you. Both of these claims are false.
